Bounce Rate shows the how much time visitors spend on your site. It means user visits to your site and without continuing with your site he moves to the different site.

It occurs only when visitors entered on a single page of your website and he moves without visiting other pages before a session timeout occurs.bounce-rate-stats

Bounce Rate Formula is:

Bounce Rate = Total Number of Visits Viewing One Page ÷ Total Number of Visits

Following points explain you what are the reason can be:

  • If your website linking to other website
  • By Clicking Back Button.
  • By Closing an Open window.
  • By Session Time Out (30 minutes).

If a visitor views a page, without moving to another page, he leaves the browser idle for next 30 minutes and if he continues after this delay than new session will occur.

Basically, this program is designed for website owners or webmaster to inform them that how their website homepage is performing.

Low bounce rate causes visitors to view more pages.

Google Analytics (Avinash Kaushik) says “It is really hard to get a bounce rate under 20%, anything over 35% is cause for concern, 50% (above) is worrying.”

For the Ecommerce and News based websites Bounce Rate is most important because visitors go to search for the headlines and product details if they have not found the relative info than they will switch to other websites.

All you need to improve your content and product information in details so they can bookmark your pages and visit again & again.

In one of my previous post’s, I have already given details about Site Architecture, Site Architecture is Important from ranking point of View: Google & Bing.
