Paul Allen, the Microsoft co-founder and one of the richest men on earth, has filed a patent infringement suit today against several Internet titans, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The lawsuit centers on technology developed a decade ago by Interval Research Corp., a technology lab that Allen owned between 1992 and 2000. Eleven companies are named in the lawsuit: Google, Yahoo, Facebook, AOL, eBay, YouTube, NetFlix, Office Depot, OfficeMax, and Staples. The lawsuit claims four patent violations of technologies that are widely used by search engines and e-commerce sites, according to the WSJ:

Now Marissa Mayer, VP Search Products & User Experience has officially announced the new design, and included the following video:
Mayer says, "We’ve added contextually relevant, left-hand navigation to the page. This new side panel highlights the most relevant search tools and refinements for your query. Over the past three years, we've launched Universal Search, the Search Options panel and Google Squared, and it’s those three technologies that power the left-hand panel."

Corporate twitter accounts should be introduced by the end of this year according to twitter cofounder Stone.
"One of the first things we are going to do explicitly is commercial accounts," Stone said, as reported by the BBC. Google's Marissa Mayer writes: “we are very excited to announce that we have reached an agreement with Twitter to include their updates in our search results. The Los Angeles Times reported on 19th OCT about “A Twitter hole lets you Google protected tweets”.
Danny Sullivan is editor-in-chief of Search Engine Land checked with Twitter and got back the official word from their press office: - “The TechCrunch article seems to sum up the confusion pretty well. It seems that the LA Times piece references tweets that were public but later the user protected the account, thus all subsequent tweets are private along with the profile. The tweets prior to that time cannot be un-cached.
Google has not been given a key to the castle…so to speak.
